Bush and Cheney sunk the Republican party with shenanigans like this. Obama is making the same mistakes and will suffer the same fate. You'd think he'd be smarter. The Ox being gored is the American taxpayer..... That's a fair response. I'm pleasantly surprised. -- John H All decisions, even those made by liberals, are the result of binary thinking. |

Let's hear it - "What about Bush and Cheney?" This is the Willie Brown (former San Francisco Mayor) doctrine. He says just because you take their money that is no reason not to screw them. He had a fairly short political career. Corporate bribers want politicians that stay bought. You know, you really truly are not up to speed on things political. Mayor Brown was in the California state legislature for about 30 years, and was speaker of that state's assembly for about 15. He served eight years as mayor of San Francisco. Term limit laws kept him from seeking a third term. Brown is a very, very successful politician. You are right, I don't follow California politics that much. I do know that this statement was made at the end of his career. I never heard Willie say that. Jessie Unruh was the first one to say it. Always like Jessie, but he really screwed California. He was the one who convinced the voters to go for a full time Legislature. And has been down hill since. His quote was: "If you can't drink a lobbyist's whiskey, take his money, sleep with his women and still vote against him in the morning, you don't belong in politics." His first name was Jesse, *not* Jessie. Crikey...and you are a Californian. |

That sure as hell doesn't say much for the intelligence of the California voter, does it? -- Forté Agent 5.00 Build 1171 "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So, throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - Unknown Grady-White Gulfstream, out of Oak Island, NC. Homepage http://pamandgene.tranquilrefuge.net...at/my_boat.htm Willie had a very safe district. Same as Boxer. He always had more campaign money than other pols and used that to buy the speaker of the house position. Gave money from his funds to other politicians in exchange. He was also a great crook. Never gave up his SF Law practice, and collected about a $1,000,000 a year from the practice, that mostly dealt with state law practice. |

Rest was from memory and a typo to help you avoid the message. Seems as if that is what you did to check up on the quote. |

I did notice you could not spell the name of one of California's most famous and colorful politicians. I rarely check the quotes or URLs of the Zell Miller-ites. That would be you, eh? |
