When we went to Florida with the kids in August, we'd always stop on a few roadside stands in Georgia and peach out. Last time we went that time of year I found - I think it's the link below - a "peach factory" about 3-5 miles off the interstate. Didn't get any peaches there, but did get some peach bread, which was pretty darn good. They had a glassed in walkway/platform where you could stand and watch illegal latinos below pack the peaches for shipping. http://www.lanesouthernorchards.com/storefront.cfm Check out the live web cam - pretty interesting. http://www.lanesouthernorchards.com/live_webcam The real nice part was the ride there. Beautiful trees lined the road on either side of the highway leading there. Don't know if the trees were special, but the effect was. The entire road was shaded, quite a contrast from the interstate. --Vic Yep, when I was traveling back and forth from Atlanta to Tampa regularly, Lane's was one of my rest stops. |
