Arizona GOP state senator: Earth is 6,000 years old!
by Jed Lewison
Wed Jul 08, 2009 at 10:50:03 AM PDT

Holy cripes, Arizona State Sen. Sylvia Allen is a complete loon!

"I can't say enough how it's time that we get beyond and start
focusing on this technology we have and move forward into the future
so that our grandchildren can have the same lifestyle we have.

This Earth's been hear 6,000 years -- and I know I'm going on and on
and I'll shut up -- it's been here 6,000 years, long before anybody
had environmental laws, and somehow it hasn't been done away with.

We need to get the uranium here in Arizona so this state can get the
money from it and the revenues from it. It can be done safely and
you'll never even know the mine was there when they're done.

So I am for this."

Golly, I think Sylvia missed her calling. She should have been a
science or math teacher. Herring would have loved teaching
side-by-side.

I think anyone who actually believes biblical nonsense regarding the
"age of the earth" ought to be disqualified from any job in which the
public is picking up the salary...teaching, legislative, science,
medical, whatever. Now, if that person wants to teach in a fundie
school, well, maybe that's what the kids in those schools deserve.

I agree with Harry but would go further, anybody who believes in
liberal statism should be disqualified from any teaching position
because they are out of touch with reality.

And that's why we have so many Republicans in congress.

We recently finished up with eight years of right-wing lunacy, and it
nearly killed this country.

What, exactly, is "liberal statism," by the way, and while you are at
it, please differentiate it from "conservative statism."

BTW, did anyone else pick up on the humor of a biblical simpleton
talking about the age of the earth and uranium? Perhaps we should carbon
date the dumb bunny's brain.
