Sanford book deal falls through
Posted: 12:34 PM ET

From CNN Political Producer Peter Hamby
Gov. Mark Sanford’s book deal has officially fallen through.

(CNN) – Gov. Mark Sanford and his publisher have parted ways.

"Sentinel has agreed to release Governor Mark Sanford of South Carolina
from his contract to write a book about fiscal conservatism, which was
to be called WITHIN OUR MEANS and was scheduled for publication in March
2010," said Adrian Zackheim, president and publisher of Sentinel, in a
statement released Thursday. "This is a mutual decision. We wish
Governor Sanford the best."

Prior to revelations of an extramarital affair that effectively brought
an end to his political career, the South Carolina governor had been
preparing to publish a book outlining his policy beliefs.

Sentinel, a conservative imprint of Penguin Group, had included the
Sanford book in their Spring 2010 catalogue. It was described by the
publisher as "a manifesto about fiscal conservatism – why the government
needs to spend less and fix the deficit ASAP."

Sanford's office has not commented about the book deal, or about its
collapse.

Maybe he could change the title to "Inside those Argentinian Jeans..."

It would probably sell a lot better. Fiscal conservatism or sex?

Personally, I'm feel sympathy for the guy and his family. Many families
work through the same most difficult issues, but without the additional
spotlight. I wish them well.

I think sanford's wife, kids, employees, neighbors, et cetera, deserve
feelings of sympathy. Sanford, himself, though...no. He's a
self-righteous pig, now hanging by his own petard, and he deserves it.
If he had just been a cheating husband, it would have been different for
him in the public reaction.

I feel for his wife and kids. He's a ****ing idiot.
Compelled me to post that he shut up when he proved
that with his press conference.
He still didn't listen to me. Well.

You have to yell especially loud for them to hear you through the TV.

Which reminds me. I was watching Dick Cheney on CNN, talking about
releasing classified CIA documents to help him prove that enhanced
interrogation worked.

I tried to use the TV to studio feedback method by screaming "You're
not in charge anymore you ****ing cocksucker!!!"

I don't think Cheney heard me but the kids most certainly did.

"DAAAAAAD!!!!"

It sounds like the persona we see in rec.boats is the real you. You are
one class act. I am sure you are teaching your children a lot.
