It is ironic that a person who sails supports windmills. Don't they
remember the hours that they have sat on their boats on a windless
summer evening.

Do they think that the windmills will produce energy when there is not
enough wind to move their boats?

D'oh...there are many places where winds are reasonably available and
reasonably predictable. A wind turbine does not have to operate 24-7 to
make sense.

That may be a good argument against sailboats. It's not a good argument
against wind power.

It does to be a reliable source of energy. There is a narrow band of
wind speeds where a windmill can operate. To high of speeds and the
windmill suffers physical damage. To low and there is not enough energy
to turn the prop. Why do you think windmills were abandon 200 years
ago as a source power?

The carbon capture program is designed to outlaw the burning of carbon
based fuels. Its chemistry; for each pound of carbon burned about 4
pounds of Carbon Dioxide are produced. Or, if captured with lime, for
every rail car delivering coal, 5 rail cars of carbonates will leave for
disposal.

Once carbon fueled energy is removed you Must replace it with a
continuous, reliable energy source like Nuclear power plants. There are
no practical alternatives to mass, continuous, reliable, power production.

Just because the windmill may not produce constant power at a constant
rate doesn't make unfeasable. And no, the scientists and engineers
don't think the windmills will produce energy when the wind's not
blowing. Seems sort of silly to answer that question because most
would know the answer, but you asked......

I'm gonna lean toward the ultraconservatives and vote for wind. I
currently pay two power bills. The nuclear fuel one is 30% higher than
the fossil fuel one and that doesn't account for finally paying the
piper and figuring out what to do with all of the warehoused spent
fuel waste.....

I'm all for most forms of non polluting, non fossil fuel power. I
would have to think that with a good solid nuclear power program the
price would go down. I wonder if it's the norm for people that are
using nuclear power to pay more? I know that Georgia has some nuke
plants operating, and want to build more. But we only get one bill
from a co-op so I don't know.

I wonder how old is the technology behind that power plant?

*Also, how much does your nuclear plant contribute to global warming?
Which will kill off the population sooner, melting ice caps or the
disposal of what is now a very small amount of waste from nuclear
plants. Al Gore would have us believe we should be buying caskets
already.

So do you not believe that man made global warming is real because the
right tells you to think that?

Do you reckon this is just smoke and mirrors? Why?
