It turns out that my vehicle’s VIN was used to get a title for another car, so I have the original and someone else has the clone. -------------------------- It's incredible how resourceful thieves can be. In this state (MA) you used to be able to buy or sell a car that was 10 or more years old with just a bill of sale. No title was required. Now you must have a title for anything that you purchase, in state or out of state in order to get a registration. I bought a '69 Charger from a museum in Florida and the registration was held up because of a typo in the paperwork. We had to go back to Detroit to get the original information, then have a local town cop come over to my house and verify the VIN. Eisboch I had fun with the little LoadRight 'bandit' boat trailer Tom sold me. (value approx $600.00) Before I could even enter Canada, I had to pay a $206.00 fee (same as I'd pay for a Cadillac from the US), then they wanted 7% GST at the same time. Next I had to have it inspected at an official 'inspection station' to see if it met Canadian standards. (big time nightmare) After that at registration, they wanted the title...whick Connecticut doesn't issue for small trailers. Finally got that cleared up and the province wanted the $40.00 yearly registration fee plus the 6% of value share they get from out HST tax (GST + PST). Next time I'll buy a new trailer here and go down just for the boat & motor. |
