Looks like the old boy gave in. Maybe he finally realised that the
insulting joke he made at the Governor and her families expense,
actually wasn't all that funny.

Of course, Herr Krause will always believe that Letterman is the true
victim in this case.

It was a joke... nothing more. These guys that tell jokes for a living,
are used to hits and misses. This one missed... no big deal. He got more
laughs from his on-air apology. It was a win-win for Letterman, and I
aint no big Letterman fan. I *am* a Palin fan however, if for no reason
other than that hairy hates her.

Hell, I registered Republican for the first time in my life after reading
hairy's dribble for the last few years. I figured if he's what the Dems
are all about, I want nothing to do with them. He's a hell of a
cheerleader for the party!! *Us* Repubs should pray he keeps it up! g

--Mike

Was a joke in his mind and his writers mind(s). Was not a joke. Was not
funny, and even if it was about the 18 year old, was not appropriate.
Would be interesting to hear A-rods take on it. Insulted him also.

I actually never heard the jokes. I did see the on-air apology where he
re-read the jokes. I didn't think they were funny, but I don't find alot of
Letterman's stuff funny anyway. He's just not my kind of comedian. I thought
that the "bit" he did regarding the apology was funny. He *does* know how to
work the room.

I'm not easily offended in this day of touchy-feely hurt no-one's feelings
society. I think the capacity of the globe to "take a joke" is seriously
diminished, and is actually part of society's woes. Could you imagine if Mel
Brooks released "Blazing Saddles" today??? They (the PC cops) would be
lynching him! One of the funniest movies ever produced, and my black and
jewish friends concur. The irish ones are still pretty peeved though. Quote,
" We'll take the n**ers and the ch**nks, but we *won't* take the Irish!" G

Yes, yes, hairy will now label *me* as a bigot because I like the movie. The
funny thing is that I don't give a rat's ass *what* the fat boy thinks.
Neither should anyone else. He's a pimple on a flea's ass.

Making up a "joke" about a pro ball player knocking up a teenager visiting
the park is both sick and not funny. But Letterman is not very good anyway.
Maybe why Jay Leno kicked is ass ratings wise for 16 of his 17 years.

It was NOT funny, but it was a joke. It was a bad joke, but at no time
did anyone who was listening to the joke believe that Letterman was
encouraging rape or for A-Rod to have sex with anyone. Someone in here
showed a similar "joke" that Leno did where he suggested John Edwards
was responsible for getting Bristol pregnant. Comedians DO make fun of
people, places and situations, not all of them are funny, very rarely
are excellent pokes funny to everyone. If this bad joke hurt anyone
self esteem, they had severe issues that need to be addressed ASAP.
Their self esteem will be damaged more during the average school lunch
period, than by hearing this joke. Politicians love to find
insignificant hot buttons for their supporters to latch onto, this bad
joke is one of them.

I don't think Leno or his writers really were thinking about a 14 yr old
girl, when they wrote that joke. I think they were thinking about
Bristol who had a reputation in her high school as being a partier, who
was promiscuous and got pregnant, and a athletic who has a reputation
for going after any good looking woman. I have no idea of Bristol is
or was promiscuous, but that was her reputation among her peers.

Maybe the younger, but not the more intellectual. The few times I have seen
Letterman in the last couple years, he has not changed his show at all.
Jokes are still childish, and the top ten has never been very good overall.

Please...as a non-thinker, you are in no position to judge whether a
comic is or is not "more" intellectual than another comic, unless you
are comparing Soupy Sales to Dick Cavett.

You're a fan of that lunatic ex-U.S. Senator from Georgia...Zell Miller.
That's your "intellectual" disqualifier.

Herr Krause. The only reason the former Senator, Zell Miller is a
*lunatic* is because YOU SAY he is a *lunatic.*

And that is only one of the many "intellectual" dis-qualifiers that
identify your persona.
