In past years, I have steamed up the shellfish on our kitchen gas
range,
using two big pots at a time, but I'd rather be outside with everyone
instead of being in the kitchen.

Any recommendations? I'll be using a 60-quart steamer a neighbor has.

Thanks.

I haven't seen it in years. In Connecticut, it used to be called white
gas. Different from white gasoline, of course.

I believe it was also referred to as Coleman fuel.

Hey, thanks...but I just ordered a simpler unit from Bayou something or
other.

Could have picked it up on Walmart during the weekly trip for office

Yes, if you use a 1 qt pot, it will be more than enough shellfish for
all of your friends. Now based upon the size of those fat stubby
fingers, you could eat the all the shellfish in a 60qt pot, but it
would
be better for your health if you didn't.

Probably cost as much to rent as to buy. Since I use mine mostly for
crabs, I have a 90 qt. Model. Was about $60 bucks years ago. I still
fry a turkey at times. Very moist and no grease.

Yeah, but do I really want another apparatus in the garage?

You got a big estate. Barn, sheds for the Husky, dock for the Zim. Not
much room required. Store the spare propane tank on to of it.

Camp Chef is a good brand. Get a nice big one, and it will handle smaller
jobs, but not vice versa. being in the kitchen or outside, being in the
kitchen is nice for conversation. Being outside is good for cooking stuff
that will smell up the whole house for two weeks if done in the kitchen.

I spent about ten years in Southern Louisiana. Outdoor cooking, both
boiling and deep frying are an art form there. People even make outdoor
buildings complete with roofs and all, but no framed walls, just supports
and screening, so they can go outside and cook and eat and not be eaten by
the mosquitos. And all that muck and mess stays outside.

MHO, YMMV, and all that good stuff.

Steve

The burners they were selling with the turkey cooker setups are what
you want. Watch the garage sales and craigslist. These things show up
real cheap now and then. I suspect a lot were thrown away when the
"boil your turkey in oil" craze faded.

There's an idea. I'd only use it a couple times a year. I have a smaller
"indoor" crab and lobster steamer that's fine for the stovetop, although
the smell of shellfish cooking drives the cats crazy. If I had an
outdoor cooker, I could leave the smell from the shellfish...outdoors.

Never understood cooking turkey in oil when it is so easy to just roast
it in a pan in the oven, and avoid the grease and oil.

There are many things you don't understand. The sad part is you refuse
to try them and debate the subject as if you were and expert. It must
be your affliction...

Not to worry; none of them are invited. I've been considering renting a
yard tent this year, what with all the damned rain.

I am curious as to why you call it your annual seafood tent party, if
you haven't been using a tent. Would you call it a Crab Boil, a seafood
boil or even just a picnic, why a Seafood Tent Party? Is it because you
thought that some time in the future you might have to rent a tent
because it might rain?

Somehow, this sounds like a Lobster Boat to me.

Do you have nothing better to do that buttsniff Harry?

Really?

He's a proven liar who started a dumb, OT, thread.

In past years, I have steamed up the shellfish on our kitchen gas
range,
using two big pots at a time, but I'd rather be outside with everyone
instead of being in the kitchen.
Any recommendations? I'll be using a 60-quart steamer a neighbor has.
Thanks.

still fry a turkey at times. Very moist and no grease.

Yeah, but do I really want another apparatus in the garage?

I've used mine for sweet corn lots of times.

I haven't seen it in years. In Connecticut, it used to be called white

Gasoline is naptha. White gas[gasoline] meant unleaded, and untaxed,
when all car gas was dyed red [ same as 80 octane avgas ]. Gas
stations had it, often in a 55 gal barrel out back, and used it to
clean parts. People bought it for their stoves and lanterns. Pumps
were labled ' contains lead, for use as motor fuel only '. Leaded
gas[tetraethyl lead if it matters.] also had a bromine compound, to
encourage the lead to go out the tailpipe instead of coating the

Naptha is a mixture of hydrocarbons with a certain range of boiling
points. Included is gasoline. White gas, or coleman fuel, same thing,
is cheap low octane gasoline, without any additives or dye. Can of
cigarette lighter fluid says naptha right on it.

If I had an
outdoor cooker, I could leave the smell from the shellfish...outdoors..
