So the guy making a million will add what 30 small business wage earners add. Maybe the boss will say "Hey, have to cut your salary 7% of everything past $100k so my business doesn't suffer. There are many small businesses with employees that have salaries over 100K, particularly in high tech or engineering fields. What is the effect of a 2.5% increase in SS taxes on a large business? All of the employees don't get a raise. Democrats don't understand that once the juice is squeezed out of the orange it is gone for everyone. It depends on the business, and the wages paid. This week at my wife's work they cut everybody back to 4 days. Large national business and low wages. Food service. Average wage is less than $20k. Health care deductions are $5k. Close to 25% of gross. Now, with a day cut off, health care is closer to 33% of gross. They wouldn't mind a 2.5% increase in SS taxes if it brought down their health care cost. Care even less about caps taken off the +$100k crowd. Wouldn't give a **** about any "no raise" threat either. Most hardly ever get a raise anyway. They are maxed at @$10 an hour. There are plenty more workers just getting by than those making +$100k. Get them politically active and they *will* redistribute some of the wealth. That's happening now. Unstoppable. Clinton and Bush have virtually destroyed the country, making us essentially vassals of the Chinese. BTW, my kid's girlfriend just got a $5K pay cut. Not sure if her company qualifies as large or small. That's maybe a 10% pay cut. I heard yesterday in a Senate hearing the real unemployment rate is 16% and change, including discouraged/underutilized. I fully expect it to get much worse. I would guess that most employees today whining about not getting a raise are told to pound sand. Almost went back to my old job just last November at +$100k. I was getting bored and figured I'd pad my nest a little. It was on the launch pad Then killed a week after it was hot. Bad timing. Can't say I'm disappointed though. Since then lots of layoffs. Bad atmosphere. They were dead and didn't even know it. Pretty much like the Reps. I was a bit surprised they were actually serious in wanting me back given where I saw the economy going. But many people in their own little +$100k worlds have no idea of the wider realities. Especially that they are very small voting block. Real noisy though. When/if SS caps are raised, or SS taxes are increased, or a national health care plan is installed, the "little guys" will vote for the pols who get it done. Save SS. Make health care affordable. Obama is the new FDR to them. Even to the old folk Reps when the Reps try to "take their SS away." Only chance the Reps have is to become the tariff party, or the "Reindustrialize America" party. Fat chance. Anything else they say will just be laughed at. Dems are still weak there, globalists that they are. But Obama may steal that thunder too. The writing is on the wall. Obviously, you aren't aware that herring and floridajim were in charge of demoralizing our military forces in vietnam. After that, herring went on to not teach math and cast asperions at blacks and latinos, and floridajim transferred his swabbie skills to a marina, where he was put in charge of the pump-out station. |
