Seriously, who really gives a crap what the right-wingnut think or say about anything? Either the GOP moves to the center or...it dies. It could hang out on the margins indefinitely. The problem is there's no viable party to take it's place. The last thing we need is a one party system. Karl Rove promised a permanent majority. Well, he got it. It's just not the majority he'd hoped for. As long as the Republican Party continues to cozy up to the religious wingnuts who wish to legislate their morality and neocons who want to bomb everyone else, the Republican Party will continue being a party of extremists whose beliefs are the antithesis of what America is really about. They may achieve "party purity" in the process (which seems to be their objective), which is fine. But it also makes them unelectable. I applaud them and wish them continued success in making their party smaller. Bring back the Whigs so we can start having some serious debates with real grown-ups. Randy |
