Race for the Cure - Wrap-up
Hey there! So sorry it's taken me a while to send my race wrap-up!
Anyway, I want to thank all of you who joined the team and/or contributed. We missed those of you who weren't able to be there for the race! It was a warm, muggy morning, but we still had lots of fun, as we always do! Owen, our 6 year old, ran the race (five kilometers) in 37 minutes!!!! Can you believe it?! Next year, our whole family will run it! Also, I have seen so many of our shirts around! Lot's of people have commented on how great they look. I understand, too, that the kids are having lots of fun finding their names on the back! I'm so glad they seem to be well-liked. Now...we are kicking around a name change for next year. Also, I'm really looking for help on t-shirt designs for next year, so keep that in mind!!! And I would like to challenge each team member (kids, too) to find one person to join our team with you! We had 144 team members this year, which is still unbelievable to me! You guys are so wonderfully supportive! I know you all have your own causes, but you sure are supportive of mine, nonetheless. We raised $6,525 (ish)! That is also just unbelievable. I set our goal lower this year, but you guys blew that $5,000 goal out of the water. You'll be hearing from me about next year's race right after Christmas (if I'm on my game!).....If you have t-shirt ideas (colors/designs), please let me know! Thanks again, so much! Just can't say it enough!!! With love and deep appreciation-- Renee -- John H All decisions are the result of binary thinking, even those made by liberals. |

You must be bursting at the seams with pride for what your daughter has accomplished. Talk about making lemon-aid when life give you some lemons. -- Reginald P. Smithers III, Esq. Hey, John, I saw a bumper sticker this morning that made me think of you and your daughter. It was the usual pink ribbon that I know you've seen a million times because of your involvement, but the caption was the great part. It simply said "Save the Ta-Tas"! |

You must be bursting at the seams with pride for what your daughter has accomplished. Talk about making lemon-aid when life give you some lemons. She is totally astounding. I'm continuously astonished at her ability to take the bad and make something of it. I don't know if I mentioned - One of the implants became swollen from, they thought, scar tissue.. They operated a couple weeks ago to determine the problem. She'd had a low grade infection that had apparently been there for a couple months. They had to remove that breast. Because they were worried, they recommended that both breasts be removed. My SIL agreed to that. When Renee woke up from surgery, expecting the scar tissue to be gone and able to wear the bikini she'd bought, she found both breasts gone. That was the week right before the race. She's unreal. And I'm very proud of her. -- John H |
