Justice Department has not recommended pressing any charges against anybody in the Bush administration other than a possible slap on the wrist to a couple of lawyers. Olbermann is having a hissy fit. Who's going to join him? Eisboch |

I was hoping to see Cheney waterboarded on the National Mall just before his head was chopped off. |

I want to know what lawyers wrote the opinions stating that rendition was legal? What's worse water boarding a terrorist or giving a terrorist to a country for them to do worse than water boarding? |

And Obama with all the pork and Murtha + other scandals may not want to open up that can of Whoop Ass. In 4 years, Obama and his crowd could be up on charges of looting the country. Has been the case for a couple hundred years not to go after the previous administration. Look out if you do and you lose the Presidency. And with comments like The Obama Brand. http://www.commondreams.org/view/2009/05/04 |

As AG, it's against the law to not prosecute those you know violated the law. The AG knows this and will have to find a way to deal with it. We knowingly tortured prisoners on dubious legal foundations. If the US doesn't clean up it's own mess, there are others who will reluctantly or gladly take up the mantle, however distasteful that may be. |

Olbermann offered him $1000 for each second he endured, until he was forced to reveal some sort of significant secret. |

They reported that criminal prosecution of the lawyers who crafted the memos would not take place but they didn't rule out anyone else. There's also rumors that tne lawyers may face disbarment proceedings. |

For the lesser criminals in the Bush Administration who pushed for torture, burial up to the neck in moist dirt in a field full of fire ants. It's not torture. We don't torture. |

Obama doesn't want it, so it won't happen. Remember, he may make "mistakes" in judgment also. Eisboch |

I have mixed emotions about this. I really do not believe the country can afford this distraction when we have serious work to do. (like ending the war and actually finding a reasonable disposition of these suspects) ... but the idea of a bunch of lawyers going to jail does seem somewhat appealing to me. ;-) I'm not a very vengeful person. So it would be easy for me to leave this in the past. ITOH, there is the future. We do need to understand how it happened to prevent it from happening again. It's a tough call that I'm glad I don't have to make. |
