Heh - I just came back from SC - I got some stuff that...well, let's
just say it's in the artillery class. :)

My county will arrest you if they catch you with sparklers.

Pansies. Sparklers?

Unbelievable. Hell, when I was a kid, we used to chuck 1/8 sticks of
dynamite around like fire crackers - nobody ever got hurt. Maybe we
were just smarter than the average kid now days. :)

Had a friend who's dad was a pyrotechnics guy as a hobby! He'd make us
some cool stuff! Made me a small bomb once, and I chucked it in my
uncle's old cast steel concrete mixer! The end result was lots of
pieces of the barrel all over the place, and an ass kicking that I
received!

Ever see that episode of Mythbusters where they loaded up a cement
truck with 3 tons of HMX?

There was nothing, and I mean nothing, left of that truck. :)

Last week, they did a thing about making diamonds and went to the
University of New Mexico School of Mining Engineering - did something
similar with RDX - about 1500 lbs of the stuff in a tall tube.

The shock wave was simply amazing.

One of my favorite TV shows - 'splosions galore!!

Coworker about 40 years ago, his dad was a powder rat for Kennecott copper
mine in Nevada. He said you never ran after lighting a fuse. If you
screwed up, you could not run fast enough to escape. They mostly used
electric detonators, but he had been doing in a long time when I met him.

Yes, I did! I've told my wife I'd move back to the S.F. bay area if I
could get a job with the Mythbusters!

Yep, explosions and lots of other ways to ruin perfectly good stuff!

My welding instructor dislikes mythbusters. Bad welding practices. The
lady with the Tat's that welds at times use to work for the instructor, and
was not high on his list of quality. But it is a fun show to watch.

Chain saws are for sissies.

Det cord is the only way to remove small trees. For big ones, a shaped
charge and a little C-4 works wonders. :)

Remind me to tell you about the time I removed a tree stump, and about
two tons of rock and earth plus about six neighboring trees, by using
slightly too much AN and diesel - it's a funny story.

Friend grew up in Kansas. Bounty of 5 cents a head for crows. So they
decide to dynamite a roost tree. Toooooo much dynamite! He said they
strapped 1/2 sticks of a full case (All the farmers had a case or two for
blowing stumps and rocks) all over the tree. About 1 am they set it off.
Looked like a nuclear explosion he states. They were caught and chastised
and they could find enough of 1 bird for a bounty. Huge cottonwood made
into toothpicks. As to shaped charges, my brother used them in the Seabees
and they later was an industrial engineer for a company manufacturing them.

If you can come up with potassium chlorate you can make some pretty
nasty stuff just using 40% sugar and a dash of potassium chromate.
It is probably hard to buy these days without getting a call from ATF
but it used to be available at Fischer Scientific if you could come up
with a plausible story.

That's what's nice about living in the country and knowing a lot of
farmers.

It's easy to get stuff. :)

Did I ever tell you...

Um..never mind. :)

I hate evreybody and everything.

There I said it.

Now be honest. You like high powered cars...

Damn...

Ok, I like one thing.

Er - two - high powered boats.

Um...three - high speed anything. :)

And dogs - I like dogs.

Oh, and explosions - the bigger the better.

Damn - big bore rifles and large caliber hand guns.

And if I were truly honest, I'd have to admit that I don't wish harm
on anyone - Peace Love and Fraternity, that's my motto.

Oh, that last one was a lie.

One shot, one kill is more like it. :)

Or shoot first and ask questions later.

Tom likes bigger ones than you got.

Hehe... you think? I'm not talkin' safe 'n sane here Bill. ;-)

There is a PTO driven attachment fits my Mercedes tractor, that turns
trees up to 6 inches into chips. Cuts a six foot swath. About a
hundred times faster than explosives. My brothers bulldozer,135hp, has
pushed over 18 inch or so trees. You can take down any tree with a
blade, by nibbling at the roots. Dynamite is older than the tractor,
and was once the only way to go for land clearing, but now it is
expensive. It has its place, huge boulders and bedrock. Only thing I
have personally blasted was snow. Very satisfactory avalanche, with no
skiers inside it.

Most blasting is done with ammonium nitrate mixed with 5% or so of
fuel oil. Saw a film of them shooting 800 tons, mining taconite in
Minnesota. Shot the charges in sequence to keep down the peak noise.
