Failure to communicate? Something screwy here. Yeah, before Obama went to Peoria, I heard that Caterpillar might rehire if the stimulus was passed, and it didn't sound like the information was coming from the Obama camp. I found this: http://news.medill.northwestern.edu/...115349&print=1 It seems to attribute the story to the Peoria Journal Star. Unfortunately, the page is no longer at that link. Who knows? |

Speaking of the subject header .... Happened to note that although President Obama stated several times that passage of the stimulus would enable Caterpillar to re-hire some of it's laid-off employees and repeating it again while visiting the Caterpillar plant while gesturing towards Owens, Caterpillar's president, Owens seemed to contradict Obama's statement shortly afterward. After Obama departed from the plant visit, Owens was asked if passage now meant he would re-hire some laid off employees. His answer was, "In all honesty, no." He indicated that there was a long ways to go and that in reality there will likely be more lay-offs before any re-hiring can begin. Failure to communicate? Something screwy here. Obama grasping at straws to sell his power grab bill. This is the perfect opportunity for companies to do wholesale restructuring and reorganizing using the economic climate as an excuse. Obama again latched onto a statement made by Caterpillar's CEO. Rather than doing the due diligence he just jumped at the chance to get in front of the American people to show the effects of the stimulus bill, even though it hasn't become law yet, are working. The stimulus bill is still one big pile of pork. |

The stimulus bill is still one big pile of pork.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Yup, 1400 pages released last night and might be passed today! Another campaign lie from Obama and his crew. Obama said there would be time to review bills, he said also that there would be partisanship, the Republicans were locked out of the room on this one, not allowed to offer any admendments. Obama is already the most dishonest president in history... |

I noted that BO said something like "this stimulus will allow Cat to hire back some of the laid off workers." What does "some" mean? One? Two? Hundreds? Any time a pol uses non-specific language, he is blowing hot air. --Vic |
