No rush or anything, but you might want to check your Johnson this
Spring. No - not that Johnson, your outboard. ~~ sheesh ~~ :) The last time I had the prop off, I replaced the pin with what I thought was non-magnetic stainless - apparently not because I just looked at my HO this afternoon and cotter pin for the prop is rusted to hell and gone. I replaced both around the same time with the same type cotter pin. Just an FYI. -- When I want your opinion, I'll beat it out of you |

Funny...I was planning to buy a spare (concerned about the metal weakening after a few straightening & re-bending cycles) but the parts guy said you could re-use them a number of times & not to worry. |

Metal fatigue and all that. Just a note, they should not be bent all the way over either, it is best to just use the correct length. Some folks wrap them all the way around the shaft, and that parts guy should not be pinching on such things... Just carry a few new ones and discard them each time you have to straighten them out... |

It's a cotter pin, dummy. That's what they are made for. |

I was a little concerned because the pins came from the same package. Wouldn't want you cruising around Halifax Harbor and have the prop come off. :) -- Real engineers don't document - If it was hard to design, it should be hard to understand. |

I'm not too worried about the Navy ships...I doubt they could hit anything. |
