American Stereotype™ walks Google's mean Street View

Gun? Check. Liquor? Check

We're fully aware that some of our UK readers have pretty well decided
that the average American wears a baseball cap, Harley-Davidson
sweatshirt, jeans and cowboy boots and walks the mean streets of the Land
of the Free with a hunting rifle while swigging from a bottle of hard
liquor.

Nothing, of course, could be further from the truth, as this snap from
Google's Street View shows: see link above for image

Splendid. Doubtless our US friend is on his way to a fellow NRA member's
trailer park home to watch the baseball while washing down pork rinds
with a coupla six-packs, as is the local custom.

Good point.

I'd agree; right at the top of your collective heads.

There was a time, in this country, when people weren't
as paranoid. Although the British have a right to be
paranoid, it should be about people slashing others
for no apparant reason, their national passtime it
seems. For them to mention this is a perfect "pot
calling kettle.....etc".

Because someone has a weapon in their poccession
is not, per se, a crime in this country and you're an
idiot for bringing this up. Have you nothing better to
do?

I see the sense of humour by-pass was 100% effective.

If you can't laugh at yourself, then why get up in the morning?

Oh, and FWIW, most of the UK had a good laugh about the so-called knife
crime stats when da guv crowed that their latest crime fighting scheme had
reduced knife crime, just to be castigated by the people who created the
stats for pre-announcing them out of context. A month later, when the
*real* report came out, it showed da gov up for the ****s they are by
proving the exact opposite.

You see, "we" can laugh at ourselves. It's just such a shame that you
don't "get" humour when you see it. I'm assembling a "care package" for
the disadvantaged as I type consisting of betamax tapes of Monty Python,
Fawlty Towers, Dads Army, Red Dwarf and the proper version of The
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Feel free to take advantage of it and
give copies to all your similarly afflicted friends.

Some very good stuff there.
I gather that there is to be a new series.
Reruns would be nice too.

A special two parter at easter. It may end up a crock though. Who knows?

The TV channel, called "Dave" (no relation to me) isn't exactly a high
budget channel, only one of the original writing team is doing it, but on
the plus side, all of the main cast are back. Maybe with a low budget
they'll go back to their roots and do good comedy and spend less on the
effects.

Hope we somehow see it in the US some day.

Shocking. A guy carrying a rifle outside of the "Dakota Angler and
Outfitter" in the "mean" streets of Rapid City SD.

Can't wait to see all the stabbings captured on film when streetview comes
to the UK this spring.
That's a scene in South Dakota would be unlikely here in Illinois. Instead
