So me and my friend were out hiking on an island in Portland OR and we ran across this boat that was beached. The picture was taken with my cell phone, it's a series of 3 images cropped together in panoramic mode

So does anyone know what kind of boat this is. It was really cool and creepy

It's one of Shortpant's cousins in disguise... But I think I have seen
something like it pictured before. Looks like some kind of landing
craft..

I was thinking...barbecue grill or one of Frogwatch's well-cared-for

Way back when, in the 1970s, when I bought my first house in the
Virginia suburbs of the DC area, I happened to be on-site one day when
the developer's Caterpillars were working to reshape nature. One of the
drivers hit something that made a huge clang. Turned out to be a tractor
engine, according to one of the guys out there. No one had any idea why
it had been buried. Three bedroom, 2-1/2 bath house. Under $25,000 brand
new. Those were the days.

I suspect its a very early model llife/survival boat. Probably from
a pre-WWII collier or tanker of some sort.

That's what I tell people anyway. It's actually an alien invasion
landing craft and as soon as I find the pilot, I'm going to have his
ass on a platter.

Now I'm goint to have to sterilize the area.

I purchased my first home in the 1976. It was a very small home (about
1400 sq ft, 3 bedroom 2 bath in an relatively inexpensive neighborhood
and city, especially when compared to a city in the DC area. It was
about $45,000. I am surprised that a DC suburb would have been been so
cheap in the late 60's early 70's, but I would never challenge Harry
Krause, he has never fabricated stories.

I do direct my comments to the "far left", the ones who limit their
knowledge to The New York Lies, Huffington Hoax, NPR, and the BBC. I
have said it before, there are quite a few honest liberals here who
are not afraid to step out of party line.. Loogie, Thunder, and Gene
are three examples, I am sure there are more...

Yeah, Zillow sez the one I bought for $25000 and change is worth $325 now.

We lived in that house for just under five years, and then sold it for

I don't. I agree with Tom that it looked something like a lifeboat or
something except it seemed to have a very flat and rounded hull bottom,
something you wouldn't expect on a boat designed for stiff seas.

Maybe it was an abandoned, homemade project?

for $41,500. This was far outside the beltway.

I bought a 4 br 2 1/2 for $31k in 1971 in Clinton Md. My ex still
lives there. Zillow says it is worth $318k now.

My first house I bought for $25000 in 1969 is zillow at $466k now. But
zillow is wrong on the number of bedrooms, unless somebody changed the
house. Was 3 bed, 2 bath when we had it. Sold it for $79k in 1979.

Funny about Zillow. My house is one of the bigger in the neighborhood, and
is listed at less than the 500 sq ft smaller home across the street. And
the same basic house 5 down the street just sold for $789k and mine has both
an extra 450' family room and a pool.

So you guys don't know what kind of boat this is?

I don't. I agree with Tom that it looked something like a lifeboat or
something except it seemed to have a very flat and rounded hull bottom,
something you wouldn't expect on a boat designed for stiff seas.

Maybe it was an abandoned, homemade project?

Looked very much like some of the older lifeboats and a lot have very
rounded bottoms. Maybe they are more self righting?

Zillow has been well established for being way off on their estimated
values.

Apparently sometimes they are close, but often they are way, way off.

It would have been more in a good neighborhood.

Yeah, they are way off in my neighborhood, too. I've got one of the
newest houses in the area, etc. By the way, they don't give you
anything in value for a pool, it's a wash because some people may not
want the pool. But I know I sure like mine!

Yeah, Zillow sez the one I bought for $25000 and change is worth $325
now.

We lived in that house for just under five years, and then sold it for
$85K or so and bought another new house a bit closer in...and then
sold that house in four years and built a custom house for, well, a
bit more. *:)

What's the address of the $25,000 house?

You can always tell when Harry has lied, because if someone asks him
about it, you won't get an answer. If he HAD of told the truth, he'd
offer up pictures, cites, etc.

I know. But, it is fun to pester Harry about these things because sooner
or later he will show a picture of something he owns, like a scruffy old
sheet over a broken down sofa to prove he has a pet cat or too.

The pictures I liked the best were his custom made, off the rack
cabinets for his "office." Who the hell puts kitchen cabinets in their
office especially ones you purchase at Home Depot?

It did look pretty silly, didn't it?
You are right about the pictures. If he really owns it, he'll post a
picture. If he doesn't he'll just ignore the request. I don't even
think he's bright enough to realize that everyone here knows that,
therefore knows when he lies (constantly!)
OR, he can always steal someone else's picture off of the internet and
present it as his own, like the owl!

Since we installed a full kitchen in my office area, it seemed
appropriate to use kitchen cabinets. The cabinets are not "made" until
they are ordered, fool. They're not sitting around in the warehouse. And
as for Home Depot, they sell many cabinet lines I am sure are superior
to whatever crap is hanging on the walls of your kitchen.
