Without necessarily branding anyone, rec.boats has it's own quota of
screwballs but are easily managed, either by ignoring or by filtering.

Bringing in a herd of additional screwballs from multiple Newsgroups is
more difficult to manage.
Different names to ignore, different filters to maintain, plus the
number to deal with goes up logarithmically. To purposely encourage or
solicit cross posting is indicative of pure selfishness.
