If you check out the Lewis Family Farm, it looks like Mr. Lewis is the one doing the selling, not the Halifax Staples employee. This is the operative sentence in the article: "Financial arrangements aside, he said he and the farm manager would teach the couples everything they know about organic farming, so that three to five years down the road, they would be in position to return to Canada with all the skills needed to operate their own organic farms." He is looking for people to come work on his farm for 2 to 3 years as "interns". Interns is another way of saying "for free".
