![]() "Jim" wrote in message ... http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=swts2p&s=5 I give up. We got a little over a foot of the blasted stuff which isn't too bad, but it continued to snow lightly all day today, adding another couple of inches. Tomorrow's forecast calls for another storm with more snow and freezing rain. Plowed as much as I could with the Gator, but it's a bit too much for it, so I fired up the JD tractor with the front end loader. All that does is makes a mess. You can't "plow" with it, you have to scoop up buckets of snow and deposit it somewhere. I think it's time to get a plow put on the truck. At least I could stay warm and dry while pushing this crap around. Eisboch |

One of the neighbor kids plows my driveway with his truck a few times a year and I slip him a couple twenties. You can use c-notes for yours. --Vic |

Um..why don't you get a blade for that John Deere bucket - you've already got the hydraulics for it - you just need to fit a blade on the bucket. I even think, for some reason, that JD makes a blade for that bucket loader. Be a hell of a lot cheaper than a plow rig for the F-250. Sorry - just driving by and saw the post. |

I even think, for some reason, that JD makes a blade for that bucket loader. Be a hell of a lot cheaper than a plow rig for the F-250. Sorry - just driving by and saw the post. Two reasons (for when you can get to read them). 1. The tractor is open to the weather. I used to have an enclosure and heater for it, but it cut down the visibility too much, especially if it was still snowing or sleeting. Plus, the enclosure a lot of openings in it and a gust of wind would overwhelm the heater in one blast. 2. The tractor, even in four wheel drive, just doesn't have the traction in snow that the truck has. It's fine in dirt, sand, etc. but the type of tires it has makes for very poor traction in ice, snow or wet mud. When we were resurfacing the main horse paddock, I buried the tractor up to it's wheel hubs in mud several times and had to pull it out with the truck. I figure the truck cab will be nice and warm, protected from the elements, plus I can drive it over to family and friend's houses and help with their driveways. BTW, I measured the final snowfall amount after it finally died down yesterday on a big table sitting outside the barn. A little over 20 inches before it started changing to rain/sleet. Eisboch |

Let me explain *smart* to you....... We get snow and close schools and businesses. We might illogically stock up on milk and bread, but we stay home. We eat snow cream. We go sledding with the kids. We build a fire in the fireplace and read good books..... which is all very well, but more than half this group isn't smart enough to NOT eat the yellow snow .... |
