You do have to consider that Harry, living in the Northeast, home of
some of the best 1st, 2nd and 3rd tier liberal arts colleges in the
United States, picked the Univ. of Kansas to get a "good traditional
Liberal Arts Degree. In the 60's, no one would begin to suggest that
Univ. of Kansas was the place to go if you wanted a "good traditional
Liberal Arts education".

It may be that it was the only school that would accept him.
