I'm thinking of converting my desktop machine into a server, and I might want to contact you for a "tech consult." Unless you: 1) Have a static IP OR don't mind paying for a Dynamic DNS Service AND 2) Really *want* an extensive hobby configuring and running Apache I'd go with one of the Web Hosting services (which also come with lots of other perks and amenities) and let them worry with the hardware acquisition and maintenance, software configuration, security headaches (you'll need a dedicated IP or you'll have to open a port to the server(s)), and up/down time. Though I'd be glad to help..... Yeah...I'm sure you are right. I do have a windows home server, which I can use as a a generic server, sort of. |
