We say "Chanukah Sameach" to each other, and Merry Christmas to goys who celebrate Christmas. I guess to some we should just say, I hope you got some nice presents for Dec. 25th. My younger son married a Jewish girl. What a blast we all have at this time of year celebrating both Christmas and Chanukah. Both her family and ours celebrate both our traditional Christmas activities as well as their traditional Jewish traditions and celebrations. It has made the holiday season much more interesting, educational, enjoyable and just plain fun. And the food is awesome. Eisboch That is cool! -- Salmonbait Good thing the Jewish relatives are good cooks. My Sister in law is Jewish, and about the only thing she makes is salad. And how great is a green salad? Even with lots of stuff in it. |

Eisboch In Jewish culture fish symbolizes abundance and fertility, so it is served in numerous different ways at all holiday dinners. Since the Jews were dispersed throughout Europe, you will find their traditional Jewish recipes are often borrowed from the region in which they lived. Some of my favorite holiday "comfort" foods are praakes, Knishes, Kugel and of course includes fresh baked Challah. Challah symbolizes the circle of life with is ingrained in Jews from a very early age. |
