Default Help! Flatbed Scanners

Anyone know anything about the Epson V500 scanner? I was considering the
Canon 8800, but no one has it in stock (which may be a good sign). I've got
to make a decision quickly. This will be a Christmas present for my wife.

I've got an HP all in one printer scanner copier that I like.

Not going that route. This is going to be a dedicated scanner.

The Protek FB scanner I had puked after 6 mo. The Visioneer I have now
works perfect-5 years. The bundled Paperport software works for my needs
well. YMMV

Thanks for the reply.

I found another group which had some pretty good info on scanners, and I've
found a few reviews helpful. I've ordered the Epson V500. Hopefully, it'll
do the job.

My all in one HP flatbed works fine. No more foot print than the old
flatbed only scanner. You may not need the all in one, but gives you an
extra printer fax machine.
