I found another group which had some pretty good info on scanners, and
I've
found a few reviews helpful. I've ordered the Epson V500. Hopefully, it'll
do the job.

My all in one HP flatbed works fine. No more foot print than the old
flatbed only scanner. You may not need the all in one, but gives you an
extra printer fax machine.
