I received my E-3 yesterday with the 12-60mm 14 element zoom - wowzers is that lens sharp. My E-520 has the same operating system, but the E-3 is set up a little differently - it's going to take some getting used to. First camera I ever had that I could set the viewfinder diopter to the exact correct adjustment for me - that's a real plus. And I really like the LiveView feature. I'm impressed - glad I bought it. Now I need to get rid of the E-300 and E-330. I just read the DP Review on the E-3 and the 12-60. Nice piece of goods. The lens is a killer. Congratulations. My first digital camera was an Oly. I was an early adopter of digital. In early 2000, I met a guy on a Power Squadron rendezvous, and he showed me his 2MP C-2020. I was impressed and ready to make the leap. The C-3030 was just about ready to hit the streets. I laid claim to the first one scheduled to arrive at one of the local camera stores. The C-3030 was a 3MP point and shoot, albeit with full manual control. $1,000, if you can believe that. A cool large for a 3MP P&S. Man, we've come a long way in 8 short years. But I'll tell you, that camera took excellent images. I have hundreds of shots archived from that little camera that still look outstanding, even by today's standards. The biggest limitation was the 3MP size of the files. It really limited the ability to crop and enlarge. But color, clarity, and exposure were typically nuts-on with that little dude. I later bought a waterproof Oly 410 as a dedicated boat camera. That one was a 4MP point and shoot that I picked up at Costco for $200 I think in 2005 or thereabouts. I still have the 3030, but gave the 410 to a nephew. I was hoping to find some Cyber-Monday deals on the D300, but it was not to be. The price seems to be holding in the high $1,400's. Gonna have to lean hard on Santa. The book is shaping up very nicely. RG |

While it is always nice when someone else enjoys your photos, for an amateur photographer the only person who is really important is yourself. If you enjoy your photograph, it is a good one. When I look at photography, I find that I enjoy a simple photograph of the subject, and am trying to work on the concept that less is more. When I first starting taking photos, I would try to take a photo of the view I could see with my eye, but when I would look at the photo, I found it very distracting, so I now try to focus in on one subject. I really like the fence shot. Terrific colors and shadows. That's the one shot that is a favorite of mine. Believe it or not, I shot it through a chain link fence as there was construction going on in the immediate area - I saw this, decided to take the shot - bingo.
