Catherine Tate - very funny lady, a red head and the best Dr. Who
companion EVAH!!! :)

While I *DO* love red heads..... I gotta give the companion nod to
Elizabeth Sladen...

While Sarah Jane was the definitive prototypical Companion, clearly
Donna Noble was THE singular and most striking of the Companions -
even more so than Rose Tyler. Where Sarah Jane and Rose were merely
sidekicks, Donna wasn't awed by the whole Timelord thing, was fully
capable of telling The Doctor where to stick it and was his equal in
terms of love of life and her ability to look beyond him as Timelord
and view him as a person.

Tate did a great job with Donna - humor, drama, some serious acting
chops - she was the best of the bunch.

And don't even get me started on Martha - Martha sucked pond water.
Hated her as Companion.

and to Tom Baker as The Doctor.

Again, it's a question of eras. I have nothing but appreciation for
Tom Baker as The Doctor and he certainly had a certain verve which
echoed through Ecclestone's and Tennant's performances, but where
Ecclestone was a direct (and very enjoyable) reflection of Baker,
Tennant became The Doctor in ways that Baker never did. Of all The
Doctors, Tennant is my favorite with Baker a close second.

Have you been lucky enough to catch any of the early 60's episodes
with William Hartnell in the lead? Nearly 50 years and still the
TARDIS travels!

Oh yes - been a Dr. Who fan from the git go. I used to listen to the
BBC radio shows on shortwave when I was a kid.
