More likely 4 years. With the economic meltdown going on, he is
probably a one term POTUS.

He's either going to be a hero or get the bum's rush.

Unfortunately for all the idealists like Harry who are anxiously awaiting
all kinds of social reforms, it just ain't gonna happen.

The state of the economy will be the only measuring stick for Obama's
successes or failures.
Everything else has become secondary.

I wish him luck. I sure wouldn't want the job.

My "reform" agenda includes very few items that will cost serious money.

They just won't be high on the priority list.

That's right...there will be no White House support for efforts to
restrict abortion.

There will be no White House support for curtailing stem cell research.

There will be no White House support for efforts to deny science.

GITMO will be closed.

The NLRB will represent workers and management, not just management.

We will have an actual plan and actual schedule for getting out of Iraq.

Many of the most restrictive and onerous provisions of the unPatriot Act
will be flushed.

Et cetera.

You call that a social agenda. Those issues are irrelevant to 90% of
Americans right now. They want to know whether they are going to have a
job next year. The could care less about stem cell research, abortions
and denying science, whatever that means.

The issue Eisboch raised was "social reform," crap-for-brains.

Oh, ok. Do you pay rent, or does she expect you to cut the grass and
rake the leaves?

Why should the government pay for stem cell reseach? Most of the what the
government pays for goes 90% of the way and then private money take it the
next 10% and to the patent stage and big payoffs. They can use stem cells
now, just not Federal Money.

And life for the bulk of the US population won't change a bit.
As for a time table for exiting Iraq .... it's being established now.
Unless events change, the schedule won't change either.
