Garmin handheld 76CS and non-proprietary charts: workable? if so, how?

There is a yahoo group for those wanting to do this. Its pretty
tedius. I guess you have to consider that's what you are paying for
when you buy Garmin maps. Garmin has vectorized these tax payer maps.
