Default Mercury stator 200v6 Help PLEASE!!!!!

Hi, i have had a "no spark" problem, and have tracked it down to the
stator, all good, no!, it seems tho there is 3 different stators, 9,16
and 40... now i have no i.d. on my engine at all...and i'm very stuck
to know what one i need, i know its a 398-5454, know its a
398-5454, but at the end of the numbers it follows with a A32, A7, etc
etc... and they have been rubbed off over the years and now i'm totally

at a standstill...".

1, if there is any way of telling the age of the motor by some onther
means, e.g. carb numbers etc...or
2, if anyone knows the difference between the 9,16 and 40 stator i
would need??...PLEASE GUYS AND GIRLS HELP ME OUT HERE!!!!! many thanks
Danny.
