To any users
Does seaclear ll work with ENC charts from NOAA or will it only use the RNC
charts? If only RNC, how did you set up the path?
Thanks

http://www.sping.com/seaclear/index.htm#PC

"SeaClear II can use most BSB/KAP version 1 - 3 and GEO/NOS commercial
charts. Most common projections are supported. Chart datum's are
supported. You can add your own charts, scan or capture them, save as
PNG, BMP or other common format. Skewed and rotated charts can be
calibrated. Chart border can be set to reduce the actual chart area."

Good piece of software, probably the best in the public domain in my
opinion and a generous gesture by the gentleman that originated it.

Now if we can just get someone to help him with the public domain vector
charts...

You need to download MapCal II to set the path to the charts

Have you actually done this or are you just reading the web site?
ENC charts don't seem to have the correct file extension. The RNC charts
work but they download as a folder with 3 files inside for each chart! This
means a separate path for each chart. 1000 charts equals 1000 paths!

So don't extract the path when you extract the archive file! Look at
how to configure your unarchiving program to do this. All the files
will hen be in one directory.

==================

That is not the right way to use them. Unload the individual chart
folders into a common directory. One folder equals one path.

You can also separate them by region if you prefer. One region equals
one path.

Did it with BSB's, "Tools - Set Directories". Copied the files to whatever
set of directories I then wanted.

Was responding to OP's "how did you set up the path?".

Cheers.

BSB's work fine, but download several (not just one) ENC's from NOAA or
RNC's and make them work, then tell me how you did it!

Works fine, these are BSB charts.

After editing in the directory path in MapCal you need to run "Tools -
Autoload List - Scan for New Charts" - I ran "Update" as well, not sure if
that is really necessary.

Of course, having been designed by the government, you then have the choice
of moving all the charts you download into a single directory and only
entering that in the chart directories list in MapCal, or unzipping them in
multiple folders and entering all of them If you want a lot of charts I'd
suggest buying one of the DVDs with all the charts ~ $45.

Cheers.
