I remember one of the manufactures offers a box that has Seatalk
capability, but O don't remember much more than that.

It is going to cost 3-400$us but it is worth it.

You will end up doing some wire-by-number by yourself.
You will also have to setup the Garmin for NMEA output.

It does, but only one way: from Seatalk to NMEA. You need conversion in the
other direction and as far as I know, none of the available NMEA
multiplexers offer this. You definately need the Z290 box.
