Question mercury problem

I have a 65hp merc idles great, once you get on plane motor cuts off cold (not bogging out). You then have to wait 5 to 10 min before starting again. It has been in shop dealer couldn't ID problem. Suggestions? Coil separating? Fuel pump?

Sounds like a problem I had with a gummed up carb.

Could be a blocked fuel filter. If you have flexible fuel pipe and the
filter at the tank end is blocked or restricted, then when you ask for full
power the suction will collapse the pipe and cut off fuel.

If it cuts dead, without miss firing or loss of power first, I'd say it has
to be electrical.
