I am a newbie to the group, so ask your indulgence if I offend any protocols
here. I have a Magellan 5000 GPS unit given to me. I think it is about ten years old but it works very well. It requires either 6 dry alkaline AA batteries or 9v dc through a dc/dc converter from 12v which was once available from Magellan dealers. I have tried the internet through many sources to find one of these converters as the machine goes through alkaline cells at a great rate, but with no success. My query to the group is- the handbook shows a small 5 pin plug into which you plug the converter. Is this a standard plug that I could buy somewhere and if so which of the pins carries the 9v dc? Finally, will the machine blow up if I feed it 12v dc? David Brister Bruno Abbatte Primatiste. |
