I LOVE this old handheld GPS, but its internal Lithium batt just gave up and I
am tired of paying $50 to get it replaced. Yes, I have had the mod which extends Lithium battery life, but it still eats em every couple of years. The case is a mystery. Not ANY visible means of opening. I have read that they (aftermarket service people who still handle Micrologic) break the case with injected air pressure and give you a new one when the set is in for repairs. That sounds crazy, but is it true? Any help appreciated. |

Any help appreciated. Yes that's the way it's done. I was on hand when they "blew" mine apart. It sounds to me like whoever did your mod really didn't do it. I had my memory battery replaced and the mod done years ago and was told it would last 10 years or so. I've had no problems. Mine was done by an ex Micrologic warranty service station. By the way they don't give you a new case. Wher would they get it from. That
used to be Micrologic's pitch when they were in business but the place that did mine said if the case was damaged there was nothing they could do. They put the case back together with some type of waterproof super glue. S/V Express 30 "Ringmaster" "No shirt, no skirt, full service" |
