Default Solar Panels & Shadows

It's my understanding that it doesn't take too much shadowing to render a
solar panel ineffective. Apparently some panel material techologies handle
it better than others, but those that do better with shadows are fairly poor
performers when it comes to unshaded performance.

Question is: Are there any panels/technologies available that strike a
decent balance between shadowed (say 10-20% of face area) and unshadowed
output?
