Just my 2 cents worth, but my preferred route south down the Florida
coast is about 200 yards off the beach with a good pair of 14x
stabilized binoculars readily available. Head further offshore at
night if you must.

The best course of action for the likes of Skippy is to get into the
Intracoastal Waterway and then head north. I don't want him anywhere near
the Keys as I'm afraid I will have to suffer through newspaper reports of
his running aground again. (and again!)
