The charger is made by Vector Mfg. The one with your approximate price
has 4 charge settings from 2-35 amps. The charger also desulphates
older batteries. It works I have one. Amazon sells it online for $75.
there are other more/less powerful ones.

This is the model I've just used on a 2 month cruise to keep four
T105s topped off. It worked great running with a Honda i1000eu
generator less than 1 hr/day and I would highly recommend it.

For all the WallWorld bashers, Vector chargers may also be bought at
WestMarine or BoatersWorld for the usual marine markup and the charger
will come with a "-M" designation.

Ah, yes, but at Waste Marine/Boat US you have the priviledge of paying $129
for the 35A stripped down model, instead of $89 for the 40A/100A starting
model at Wally World. Obviously, well-to-do yachtsmen would pay the extra
$40 for a chinzier model....rather than be seen by fellow yachtsmen buying
something off a rack at Wally World on the cheap.....(c;

Pointing this out to Waste Marine managers, by the way, will get you
snubbed as you are obviously NOT the class of clientele Waste Marine wants
in their stores....

For a Marine designation there are probably some upgrades. Stainless
contacts and probably a sealed circuit board. Perhaps some spray proofing.
Maybe powder coated vs paint and maybe more non-sparking.

Add this to a small market and you get the $40 markup. Perhaps someone
could write Vector and ask what is the difference in the plain vs the -M
model.

Look at both. No difference...nada.

Amazon.com sells the Vector chargers and NO SALES TAX. The 2/10/20/35
sells for $75. Delivery takes a couple of weeks. We've used this
charger and it works great. A lot of RF noise but who cares you just
wait to use your SSB or other RF receiver when the charger is completed.

Good priced, too. The SAME charger at Waste Marine is $130!

I have been following this thread, but missed a point. How does the charger
deal with gel cells? I looked at one in West and it does not seem to have
any ability to change the max voltage.

Larry,

I've been looking for the charger you mentioned for a while
now, but none of the local Walmarts seem to carry it. Do you happen
to have a Walmart item number?

Thanks,

There's no WalMart number on it, Larry, but the model is Vector 1093A and I
paid WalMart in N Charleston, SC, $89 for it. Look on:
http://www.battery-rechargeable-char...r-car-battery-
charger-products.html
(sorry, take out the wordwrap if you have to to get the whole html)
Just above the 1093A you'll see the $79 1092A that WestMarine is selling
for $130...2/10/20/35A only. Internet pricing on the 1093A if you search
Google for VEC1093A seems to be $109. But, all our WalMart superstores
here have it right next to the car battery racks in the car/tire
departments. It may be only in WalMarts that have an auto shop for selling
tires and doing oil changes in them.

I threw the box away and can't locate the walmart ticket at the moment as
it went to the bookkeeper with my business tax crap for the IRS-Gestapo.
Sorry.

Thanks, Larry,

I guess I'll just have to keep looking. One of these days,
I'll be close to a larger Walmart - maybe they've got it. I guess I"m
just too cheap to buy one for 109 when I know I can get it for 89!
