Overnight Slip in San Diego
 

I will be bringing an Olson 40 back from Ensenada on the 25th of April after
the Newport to Ensenada race. We have to check in Customs in San Diego, and
would like to overnight there before sailing to Catalina. I have called
several of the local yachts clubs for an overnight guest slip, but with no
luck. There are waiting lists at most places. Does anyone have a
recommendation where I might be able to get an overnight slip there? First
preference is a slip so that we can use showers and restaurant facilities.
Anchoring will be our last option.

Years ago (to me) we use to get permission to remain over night at the
customs dock.

Otherwise preceed into the basin behind Shelter Island and see if you can
find an anchorage for the night. You may be able to get permission to land a
dingy at one of the yacht club docks.

San Diego isn't really very transient friendly. You can sometimes find an
overnight anchorage outside Shelter or Harbor Is. and land your dingy at the
public pier/launch ramp, but I wouldn't leave it there unattended. Same with
the Embarkadaro where the open anchorage is about a mile from the public
dingy dock.

You might ask at one of the fuel docks about overnight tie up.

Jim, Free overnight dockage is available at the Police and Customs
dock. They have installed new docks and facilities and it is very
