![]() I was on someone else's boat and saw a nice little pressurised kero single-burner cooker http://www.ucolick.org/~de/boat/Theo...ow/Photo2.html (see left side of image) which sure looks like a Petromax or a Petromax knockoff. it was mounted in a cardanic bracket as you see here -- a hefty affair that looked like aluminium. the bracket might have been home made (by a skilled metal worker) but my guess is that it was professionally manufactured to go with the stove. it was a strong mechanism, adequate to bear the weight of the filled stove plus a small saucepan. very handy. I'd like to have one of those. has anyone ever seen a bracket like this? can you identify the manufacturer? is this the "cardanic bracket" referred to in some old (in German) Petromax/Geniol literature? I know where I can get Petromax lamps and stoves, but not where I can find this type of bracket. have done a lot of googling and the range of prefab gimbals for marine applications is pretty narrow (and pretty chintzy, most being only half-cardanic and made of flimsy metal). comments, stories, reminiscences and clues welcome! de -- .................................................. ............................ ![]() :Mail: | Your planet's immune system is trying to get rid : :Web: www.ucolick.org | of you. --Kurt Vonnegut : :1024D/B9C9E76E | F892 5F17 8E0A F095 05CD EE8B D169 EDAA B9C9 E76E: |
