Default Help us save usenet news for Time-Warner customers

Time-Warner corporate is dropping usenet news as of June 23, 2008.

Please help by asking them to keep it. The person to call works for the TW president:

First Verizon and now Time Warner. Some sort of conspiracy? Or is Usenet
dying because it's primarily being bogged down by chronic abuse complaint
writers like Capt. JG?

Nope. Fella named Cuomo who's seeking to follow in Eliot Spitzer's
footsteps
by playing tough cop.

Haha...

Can you point us to an official TW announcement?

I called them and they said they were not and it was one of the last
things they would do.

I think this is just an echo of the early June announcement . A
search on google news brings up http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-9964895-38.html
(which I posed here earlier) and others.

I'm using google groups. Kind of defeats some of the joys of usenet
with a web front end. But it is free, and, while the default settings
are horrid it can be set-up to be threaded. So, if you're willing to
go the web route and ignore the sponsored links (no problem they're
off to the side) you get a mobile interface that allows you to get
group access from any old computer that is attached to the web...
Mixed, but workable and free.

Use the power of capitalism. If enough people change ISPs, the companies
losing business will restore newsgroup access.
