Default Triatic

What is the purpose of a triatic on a ketch? Is this to make sure you
lose the mizzen too if you lose the main? Or is it to support the ssb
antenna? Surely can't be to support the mizzen which is already well
stayed fore and aft.

I thought it was to hang the washing on?

Now I'm really confused, I thought that was where you flew the Mizzen
staysail from.
