Seriously, Latin is logical and dead, English is silly and vibrant.
Which would you rather spend time with? Or, with which would you
rather spend time? (See?)
Now, if you want a real linguistic nautical challenge, read the
Patrick O'Brian novels. Note that a Spanish windlass is not a female
hang glider from Madrid. It goes downhill (or over the side, or
between the devil and the deep blue sea, or abaft the mizzen) from
there.
