Construct mast cabling complete with a "messenger" cable. I use a 1/16" S/S cable with the wires clamped every 2'-'3' with nylon ty-wraps. Pull this assembly thru the mast with an electrician's fish tape. Secure the messenger cable at the top of the mast so that it supports the weight of the electrical cables. BTW, use 3 ty-wraps spaced equally around the cable assy every 5' or so. This will keep the cable assy from slapping the mast. Once saw some of the Moorings guys suck a messenger line through a mast laid out on the dock using a shopvac. As I remember they had something light attached to the end of the line for the vacuum to "get hold of"- worked a treat. Bob Larder |

If it's a deck stepped mast laid out on the dock, then one of the shrouds makes an excellent makeshift fish tape -- just the right length and stiffness. Ryk |

To reduce the slapping of the harness when the boat rolled, I once used a
shop-vac to blow styrofoam peanuts into a mast. It did the job. Robert Larder wrote: Lew Hodgett wrote: Subject Construct mast cabling complete with a "messenger" cable.
