Well spoke, Bill. Getting so the enviros are as ubiquitous and as intrusive
as the Jehovah's Witnesses.

While they can be a PITA, at least they are concerned about this world
and not the next. Last time I checked, I sail in this world.

I have nothing against many enviormental groups, in fact I'm all for them, it's
just many of the come off as totally clueless and inacturate and that just
weakens their case/cause.

What was inaccurate about the statement that it takes longer for a teak
tree to grow than a teak deck will last?

Kinda depends on when you harvest the tree.

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!

Much of the teak used these days is farm grown and not even close to 30 years
old let alone 300.

"Be sure to visit our Photo Gallery, with photos of the beautiful lumber from
our early thinning harvest of 7-1/2 year old teak, tree owners enjoying their
trees, and the wonderful beauty of the areas we are protecting."

In that sense, they ARE a little like most religious groups, except
for the few that don't try to convince you that their god(s) are
bigger, better and if I pray right, will make the boat go faster.

Well, a teak tree is a renewable resource. Synthetic decking like Tek-Dek is
made from petroleum products. Now which one would the environmentalists have
us choose?

Kinda like: What do you do if you see an endangered animal eating an
endangered plant?

When in doubt, stay out to sea. No one has ever gone aground on a wave.
