OPEC just announced a production cut, the US$ is dropping like a rock
and diesel prices are expected to approach $2/gallon by summer. Are you
sure you want to push 8 ot 10 tons through the water at more than hull
speed?

I am looking for a 31 to 35 foot Diesel powered "fast" trawler. The only one I
am familiar with is the Albin. I like the 32+2, but would like to know what
other type boats would fit into this catagory. The Albin cruises around 18
Knots.

It ought to be. If a boater wants to run around at 20 knots, there are some
configurations that make more sense than
a trawler. Still can't get used to seeing these boats running at steep angles,
with a good chunk of keel protruding, while forced up onto something resembling
a plane by 8-10 times the HP required to maintain hull speed.

Marketing run amok. They're just slow speedboats.

Don't forget the Mainships.

Remember, if you're going faster than hull speed, it ain't a trawler!

This is why I've mentioned a Power Cat. The PDQ only burns about 3 GPH at
around 14 knots, depending on a lot of variables, of course. And it provides a
much more comfortable ride.

The PDQ site provides delivery logs for several configurations.

Mainship is introducing their new 34' fast trawler at the Miami Boat
Show this weekend. It comes either as a single or with twin 240 hp
Yanmars.
