Default Fall sailing

I like reading others' trip reports, but rarely get around to
transcribing the logs and posting them. Here's how I spent birthday
#55.... Have a laugh or two on me.

Well, there's only two kinds of sailors -- those that have been aground
and those who haven't been aground YET. It looks like a fun way to
spend a birthday, if you overlook the being aground part! I loved the
picture of the Bay Bridge -- we sailed underneath it when we brought
our boat home after buying it in Annapolis! Maybe we'll see you out in
an anchorage one day!

True, though this is the first time in 26 seasons that we've needed
help to get off.

For us, the grounding was no big thing. Oh darn, that was stupid...
Okay... Check the fenders then nap until the tide turns.

The other boat's crew wasn't as sanguine. The skipper didn't look to
have slept much and the wife got sick from worry. She got an overland
ride home and he motored in what was a wonderful downhill romp for the
third boat (who took the pics).

After, Pat asked if she was was somehow wrong for not getting worried.
[No, just experienced in such things.]

I loved the picture of the Bay Bridge -- we sailed underneath it when

There's something about those bridges, and that was a good pic.

Maybe we'll see you out in an anchorage one day!

Quite possibly, particularly above Kent Island after the nettles settle
in; the Wye and Chester before.

Three kinds... one who has, one who will, one who lied about not doing it.

Where I come from, where the scows hung out, the entire lake is 19
feet deep. You then had the mast groundings, often without getting
water in the boat, so if you can get it upright you can resume sailing
without bailing out the boat first. There is a lot of muscle available
per pound of boat. Scows are among the candidates for ultimate day
sailer. 25 MPH speeds, with A scows.
