The Sabre 386 is a great boat; fast, comfortable, tight, and easy to
maintain. It's our 2nd year and I haven't had any problems. Sabres seems
to hold their value. I've seen a couple 386's for sale for more than I
paid. I sold a Sabre 34 I had before this one for close to the same price I
bought it for 10 years earlier. The great experience I had with the 34 was
the reason I upgraded.

I've always wanted to cruise Great Dismal but I hate the thought of
missing the prime ribs at Coinjock. :-)

Our passages were usually at the beginning of November and there was no
bug problem then. It will depend on the weather.

If you want prime rib (although in a more reasonable quantity), then go
to Shuckers in Onancock.

We were in mid-September and didn't note bugs in the log.

There's *lots* of great food along the way. I would rather trade a
waterman for a mess of just-caught crabs or shrimp.... Ambrosia! (and a
good excuse to call for an impromptu party.)

Actually, Elizabeth City is at about the same mile marker, so to speak, as
Coinjock, and very good food, and more, can be found there. Of course, the
lock schedule on the Dismal can mess you up some.
The real pleasure of the Dismal swamp route is the Pasquotank River. Very
much like a small Waccamaw, with less traffic.
