On our previous boat we had a custom fitted HMC innerspring mattress and
loved it. but on our current sailboat (Dana 24) there is not enough leg room in the forward part of the v-berth to accommodate a 7" mattress. Therefore was thinking that perhaps a 4" futon might be a better choices than the foam mattress we currently have. I read a "How to" in Cruising World where a couple cut a futon to fit their v-berth. I would assume however there are companies that would make them to spec on request. I know futons come is all sorts of configurations and frankly don't no which is best. I hear that all cotton is prone to mildew (we are in fresh water) Would appreciate any suggestions and recommendations. Jerry |
