Skip, I agree with you on a combination box that is smaller than 12 cu
ft you are better off with one or two small efficient 12 volt refrigeration units. You may remember I was opposed to any type water cooling on a BD compressor condensing unit. As long as you keep the zincs on your keel cooler maintained and there is air movement around compressor and module this system will give you good service. The refrigeration unit you selected can deliver a maximum of 12,000 Btu of energy in 24 hours at an evaporator temperature of +12 F. I am not sure how a Carel thermostat will effect Frigoboat's SSC ability to control overall energy efficiency unless it controls evaporator temperature ON OFF differential correctly. The SSC's six LED light bar is a good indicator of how efficiently your refrigeration system is. At maximum compressor RPM six LEDs ON the current draw is 6.2 amps and with only one LED on system draws only 2.95 amps. I would guess that when boxes are at desired temperatures the number of lights ON will be between three and five LED depending on seawater temperature. |
